Beatrice (Betty) Willmott, has been with us since the beginning. A native of Akron, she
has been a part of the core group that shared the dream of the Catholic Worker's presence here in Akron. Along with Pat and
Mary Murray, Sr. Catherine Walsh and Aine Donovan, they stepped out in faith to establish our first house of hospitality.
Shortly thereafter, Mary passed the responsibilties of bookeeper on to her. She continues these duties as a vibrant member
of our community.

Joe May SR. Shown here at the dedication of the Peter Maurin Center. Joe retired from
corporate life in Human Resource/Labor Relations in 1996 to begin a new life in the consulting sector. His son, Joe May Jr.
joined the Catholic Worker of Akron in August as it was just forming. He called upon his dad to do various repairs to their
newly acquired House of Peace. Joe surveyed the electrical, plumbing and carpentry needs and determined that he would accomplish
the needed repairs by year's end and continue in the consulting business. Rather than the expected three months, years
later he is still with the Catholic Worker. Joe refers to this as "the Holy Spirit hook". He is a core member,
oversees building maintenance, manages the Peter Maurin Center and is a frequent speaker on behalf of the Catholic Worker
of Akron.
